Mis ceños y sonríes

People don't usually comment on my blog, but I truly believe that I have some dedicated readers out there. Anyway, I received quite a few comments (more than usual) from my peers about my last entry. I feel that I need to explain it to you (and the whole internet community...) about what has been going on. I cannot avoid this topic any longer and let it linger in the back of my mind like the bitter aftertaste of Nyquil. (I took a long time coming up with Nyquil. I had all these other bad aftertaste foods in my head, but I couldn't just pick one. Sometimes when I think, it's like fishing for that one sardine that has 3 eyes...in an olympic-sized pool filled with hundreds of them.)

SO...My wreckless admiration for older men has brought me to a dilemma (with an obvious solution, but one which I am not willing to choose.) I'm attracted to this older man whom I know on very simple terms. (Is platonic the word to use?) I don't feel the need to describe him more. That would make it too obvious. The main point is he already has a life. By life...I mean to say....he has everything that a man his age would have.

Call me anything you want. I could use the harsh criticism right now. Self-criticism just has no effect. Oh woe is me.

The only things I can say for this is:
Maybe it's a chemical imbalance.
Maybe it's a phase.
Maybe the cosmos are not lined up properly.
Maybe I'm jealous.
Or maybe I'm just plain crazy.
maybe it's all these things.

And so it begins...
It's going to be one hell of a semester.

I bought another green vase. It's beautiful. I'll post pictures another time. I also ordered more polaroids for my camera. I have been documenting the daily joys and worries of my family. Though at times it may be intrusive, I just snap the image and bolt. Making sure and dating each image is crucial. Looking back on them 5 years from now will be a priceless feeling. I'll post images another time. The digicam batteries are dead.

Fafsa is done. I've begun reading Wicked by Gregory Maguire. So far, very interesting.

I had one of the best dreams last night. Then someone called for me and I woke up. It was so good. Dreams are such a tease, aren't they?

What am I going to do?

One thing's for sure. I will not be a homewrecker.

I am a first-class fool. I misjudged you. You're capable of more than I thought.

If I could have one superpower, it would be the capability to read minds.

If I could have two superpowers, it would be the aforementioned and teleportation.

Take a look at these Bacon Bandages! This site called Perpetualkid.com has some very unique items that can "entertain your inner child". I like the pirate bandages too!
Check out this voodoo doll toothpick holder. Too cool. I love these cookie cutters too.

The aquarium was really fun today. Fairly small place. Very tiring. Lots of people. But you get to pet sharks, anemones, sting rays! Awesome! We also saw shark embryos!! So weird. You can see the babies moving through the semi-transparent pouch. So weird. We also got to feed larakeets. That was one of the highlights of the day. Oh!! And sea horses that are only 4 wks old. So small. And poison arrow frogs! A few penguins. Seals, giant spider crabs, sea stars, and other sea creatures.
When we first got to the shark/sting ray petting area, Lawrence was very hesitant (as was I), but in the end, he touched them.

Update: Papa won! He gets the $75,000. Lawrence and I were cheering for him. It was great.

Rented some movies over the weekend. Lord of War, Just Like Heaven, Miss Congeniality 2, and Constantine. Lord of War definitely goes on my favorite list. I love the wit that's playfully inserted here and there. Great acting and well-written. It all comes together very well. Very interesting movie. You never get tired. Just a guy selling guns for a living. Nicolas Cage is never a disappointment. Now, I just need to watch Weatherman. Just Like Heaven was a sweet movie. A (chick?) flick worth watching. Miss Congeniality 2 was a whatever movie. It was enjoyable. Just like the first. Chuckles here and there. Nothing superb. But it was enjoyable. Constantine had great graphics. It was also an enjoyable movie. However, that does not mean I am placing it in the same category as MC2. nono. How do I explain this...I liked the movie. It was worth the rental fee. It wasn't the best, but it was a good movie. Since when did the cosmos decide to make weekends family movie night? Hm. Though, I must say...Lord of War: not a family movie.

Today Lawrence and I saw a Globe Trekker episode today where the crew went to China. Lawrence's unknown (until recently), obsession with China, the Chinese, and the Chinese language has been blossoming. So we watched the show and they roughly covered China by categorizing the show into sections. Sections like religion, food, history, culture, (medicine?) and some others I probably forgot. Food was a great topic. Well, no, not really. They eat those reptiles that I hate!! Ugh. Nightmares for at least a week. There was this one part where we both just said EWWWWWW really loud. They eat turtles. Lawrence then proceeded to get a little sad. "Why do they eat turtles? Turtles are nice pets." Yeah, like he's had a pet turtle before.

I cut my hair yesterday. Shoulder length. It brushes my shoulders. Just looking for a change. Changes are (usually) refreshing.

I should sleep now. We're going to the aquarium!! Pictures to come!

Helen, don't pull a Dick Cheney. Get it???

YOU GUYS HAVE TO DOWNLOAD THE JEOPARDY GAME. NEW CLUES EACH GAME!! Today's Jeopardy Teen Tournament was awesome. It was a good laugh too. As usual, a few pop culture questions went unanswered. The images of Jessica Alba and Mischa Barton were superbly answered by Matt. And with a big smile too. Ha That other guy Andrew was so snooty. "First college, then Harvard law school, then the military. I would love to join the military this and that, blahblahblah." Ugh Puh-leeez. Matt's matter-of-factly attitude was just too much. Papa was the best contestant! The even went to India and sat in front of a hot fire for half a day! And for 3 pieces of string! What an interesting coming-of-age ritual! Anyway, Papa was very intelligent. Too bad he didn't score lots of points today because a lot of questions were pop culture. Maybe Jeopardy purposely includes quite a number of pop culture questions. Or maybe they just assume teenagers know this. Well, not these Jeopardy teens. We shall see who wins tomorrow's round. Go Papa!
P.S. Lawrence got a Jeopardy question right today! His first one! It was something about desert plants blahblahblah. And he answered "cactus". Very good, Lawrence. Well done. Good impulse guess.

Today's Jeopardy was the Teen Tournament. The clues were obviously geared towards modern pop culture and high school history and literature. Since there were teens and all, I guess Jeopardy decided to add a bit of youthful spice to their clues. For one clue about lakes, the phrase "hella big" was used. I can't believe they made Alex Trebek say "hella". hahahaaha It was just funny. Oh how Jeopardy is so hip. Congrats to the kid named Papa for winning today's competition. I can't believe no one knew the Hulk's real name and who Blade was. Ahh!! Come on guys. They showed you a picture! However, some guy did correctly answer Christina Aguilera for the clue asking who sang the Mulan OST. hahahaha. Good job.

Today was tiresome. Probably because I barely ate anything. All I had was yogurt. When I finally drank some water, I could feel it travelling through my stomach. COOL!

First of all, THANKS FOR DINNER YOU GUYS! Here are pictures (and some very short videos) from dinner today. (And then my battery died)
I had just started taking some photos of Helen, and my camera gave up. This is all I have.
Here are the seriously short videos. (because Jennie put the camera on video mode and not camera mode. Ugh. Some people just don't know how...puhahaha)

Do you like pineapples?
If I feel like feeding the ducks, I will feed the ducks.
Swiss cheese is good, but provolone is better. Munster cheese is good too.

Come to the edge.

We might fall.

Come to the edge.

It's too high!

Come to the edge.

And they came,

and we pushed,

And they flew.

Over the weekend, I did this:

- Took Lawrence on a nature hike at our campus arboretum
- Picked up some clay and made pots (or something like it) with Lawrence and cousin.
- Went to Home Depot and bought an awesome plant! (pink leaves with green spots. It doesn't look very green in the photo.) And a strawberry plant.
- Explored the swapmeet for some flowers. (Was not successful in search and bought fake flowers today at Michael's)
- Watched Superbowl ads.
- I spent too much time fantazing and let the water overflow the pitcher and flood the kitchen counter.
- I got a new bag!!
- Went to the 99 Ranch Market to buy lychees. (I haven't been here in years!! Maybe...5,6 years.)

(That's the strawberry plant in the bottom left corner)

There's this roll of film that I've been wanting to get developed for the past month. I still haven't. Now, I've forgotten what pictures are on the film that I've been wanting to get developed. Hm.

This is by far one of the funniest things I have heard in a long time:

Gina: Lawrence, do you believe in God?
Lawrence: Yes.
Gina: Really? Then you should go to church.
Lawrence: Do you believe in God?
Gina: Not really.
Lawrence: Then you...you should be Jewish!

I really don't understand, but it's just so outrageous that it made me burst out loud. What the heck is his way of reasoning? I'll have to pick at his brain some more later.

What is up with this fog at 4 in the afternoon? At first, I thought it was because I was near the coast, but the fog showed up everywhere! It was a bit creepy. The freeway was really foggy. I just assumed it was smog...
Seems like my vacation sleeping habit is fading away. I'm feeling sleepy and it's only 12!

I would like to apologize to anyone who has been offended by my mean and harsh actions. I'm sorry. But I really don't mean any of it. I don't do it on purpose. Deep down, I am truly a nice human being.

I had a BLAST! I had so much fun last night! All that steak..ugh. Helen, you need deserve a medal. A big, fat, steak-shaped medal. I just wish that the night hadn't ended on such a bad note. I hope we can all put it in the past. Please. Okay? OK.
After waking up at 6:30 for the past few days, waking up at 8:00 was like...waking up at 1:00 during break. It was so refreshing. The weather is great and I applied for my pass to the art department so I can go practice my pottery anytime in the building! Even on weekends!
I bought a can of lychees today, and I got excited to eat them. Then I realized that we no longer have a can opener. HMPH. Maybe I should stab around the edges with a knife.
I lied. I don't have alot of friends. Just a few. A few good ones.
School is so much fun with you guys!
Last night was so fantastic! I laughed so hard. Just thinking about some of those survival tactics is making me laugh. I was in class today and I started thinking about them. And I laughed. A little.

I went to the market today and almost walked away from the register with my groceries -- without paying. Ah so embarrassing. Does anybody still have their high school science goggles? I need them for my ceramics class.

You don't have to buy a house. You don't have to wear expensive clothing. You can still live in an average apartment with regular clothing and still be happy. Life isn't all about money and material things. Avarice is one of the deadly sins.
